England - Where do We Go?

Recently, England played Chile in an international friendly. Roy Hodgson handed debuts to Jay Rodrigues, Adam Lallana, and Fraser Forster. The team was as follows: Forster, Johnson, Cahill, Jones, Baines - Lampard - Milner, Wilshere - Lallana, Rodriguez, Rooney

World Cup qualification was already secured so for Roy it was a chance to look at some new recruits. Alexis Sanchez gave Chile the lead after just 7 minutes after poor defending from England especially Baines and Jones.

All throughout the first half, England were outplayed by Chile, Sanchez their chief threat going forward. At the back, Gary Medel was impressing and so was Diaz in midfield.
After the half time interval, Hodgson brought on Townsend, Cleverley and Henderson to no avail, they were completely outnumbered and outplayed.

Chile grabbed a second through Alexis Sanchez and from then on you couldn't see a way back for England.

After the game, Roy Hodgson was greeted with boos as he and the players left the field. It was expected as England had performed very poorly during the game.

Looking back on the game, it's quite scary to see how far behind we are other nations such as Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Germany.

The real question is this, if we are to somehow win 2016, do we build now or wait until after the world cup. It's a difficult conundrum for Roy to juggle but I would bring some young players to the World Cup and let them experience a tournament. players such as Smalling, Jones, Lallana, Townsend, Barkley and a few under 21 players should be given the chance to prove their worth.

We know what Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Welbeck, Cole etc can do, what about the rest?

Give them their chance and let them shine
